Trump's speech to joint session of congress

I listened to President Trump's speech to the joint session of congress. Probably the best speech that I have heard President Trump deliver. He was composed and spoke factually about what he has done so far and what he intends to do.

My two biggest concerns have to do with how he proposes to 'fix' identified problems and what he did not talk about.

First, the President's solutions all depend upon big federal government and unconstitutional spending to address America's issues. 'We' will do this and 'we' will do that. These solutions will ring favorably with a citizenry who is becoming more and more dependent upon looking to government to fix problems for them. It is also consistent with what has become the Republican Party platform.

The Constitution Party, on the other hand, seeks for local solutions and decreased dependency upon federal government intervention and over extension. For America to be great again, we need to allow Americans to be great again. We must empower our greatest asset which is the American people to use their individual and collective dreams, abilities, drives and ingenuity to bring America back to the greatness that our nation once possessed. We must cry out for God to be the source and power of greatness in our land as He works through our people to will and to work to His good pleasure.

A second issue I have with the President's speech is the things that he did not talk about. Things that are expressly vital to the platform of the Constitution Party and essential towards reclaiming greatness in our land. Things such as life, liberty, religious freedom, constitutional limits to government programs and run away spending and restoring the fundamental and constitutional rights of our citizens as given to us in the Bill of Rights.

The Constitutional Party recognizes the authority of Donald Trump as the Constitutionally elected President of the United States of America. At the same time, we call upon President Trump to honor his oath of office to serve this country's people by protecting the Constitution and its principles.

Our nation is great because of God's grace working through the founding documents that He has graciously given. We must return to that which made us great if we are going to be great again.
